Mr. Hackney is a Partner at Fasi & DiBello, P.A. Before joining the firm, he was the principal at Hackney Legal, P.A., providing personalized representation to clients involved in business disputes. Prior to starting his own firm, Mr. Hackney was a partner at a litigation boutique in Coral Gables, Florida, and also spent several years with a highly respected Miami commercial litigation firm.
His practice is focused on commercial litigation, real estate litigation, premises liability and tort defense, and commercial collections. He has represented a variety of clients, from individuals and sole proprietorships to large Fortune 500 companies and multinationals, on a broad range of matters, including contract disputes, business torts, non-compete and trade secret litigation, commercial landlord/tenant disputes, commercial foreclosures, premises liability defense, and collections.
Mr. Hackney has been recognized as a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers in 2009, 2011, and 2013 – 2016 in the category of business litigation. Originally from the Pacific Northwest, Mr. Hackney earned a B.S. in International Business at San Francisco State University, and his J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law. While in law school, he was a member of the Moot Court Board and participated in UM’s highly acclaimed Litigation Skills trial advocacy program. He earned the Book Award in National Security Law, received the Dean’s Certificate in Federal Courts, and was included in the Dean’s List during multiple semesters. He was also recognized in the “Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges” for 2005-2006.
Prior to his legal career, Mr. Hackney managed the U.S. market expansion efforts of a leading Latin American software development company catering to the financial services industry. During the late 90’s “dot.com” boom, he helped develop an online subscription-based emerging markets research service that was ultimately acquired by Thomson Financial.
